UHD Bilingual E-Library Launches $5 Donation Campaign to Build Literacy, One Page at a Time
Houston, TX – September 2025 — The University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) Bilingual E-Library has launched the $5 Donation Campaign to encourage community members to support bilingual literacy and expand access to technology and educational resources.
The campaign carries a simple message: a small gift can make a big impact. With a minimum contribution of $5, donors help strengthen a growing digital platform that provides free bilingual storybooks, family-authored tales, reading workshops, and technology resources such as Chromebooks for families in need.
Building Bridges Through Bilingual Stories
The E-Library, created in collaboration with UHD students, families, and community schools, offers an innovative space where children and parents can co-author stories in English and Spanish. The project aims to enhance reading and writing skills while also fostering pride in cultural identity.
Currently, the collection features dozens of original family-created books and continues to grow thanks to community support. Donations make it possible to fund literacy workshops, storytelling events, and expanded digital access for underserved neighborhoods.
The Power of $5
A $5 donation may seem small, but multiplied across the community, it becomes a transformative tool. Contributions support the creation of more stories, access to technology, and new educational opportunities for children and families.
How to Contribute
To support the $5 Donation Campaign, community members can visit the UHD Bilingual E-Library website at www.bilingualelibrary.org.
The campaign is guided by the message: “Small gift, big impact — building literacy, one page at a time.”
