Principals’ Day at Black Elementary: Celebrating Community and Learning with Aldine ISD

Celebrating Principals’ Day: Showcasing Community Impact with Aldine ISD at Black Elementary School

By Beatriz ZelayaOn May 14, 2025, the UHD Bilingual E-Library hosted a special Principals’ Day celebration at Black Elementary School. This meaningful event brought together Aldine ISD principals, district leaders, and UHD representatives to honor the progress and impact of this semester’s community learning programs. The celebration highlighted the achievements of families from seven Aldine ISD elementary schools—Griggs, Black, Hill, Marcella, Smith, Bussey, and DeSantiago—that participated in the UHD E-Library’s free “Classes for the Community.” These programs, which include bilingual reading, creative writing, entrepreneurship, and storytelling sessions, have empowered parents and guardians to play an active role in their children’s education.Guests were welcomed with a presentation by UHD Library staff summarizing the semester’s accomplishments, followed by a Q&A session where principals and district leaders had the opportunity to ask questions and share their thoughts.Attendees also had the opportunity to view heartfelt testimonies, storybooks authored by families, and a moving photo gallery that captured the joyful learning moments shared across campuses. These displays served as a powerful reflection of the program’s reach and impact. The UHD Bilingual E-Library expressed deep gratitude to Aldine ISD and its principals for their continued support and belief in the program’s mission. Their openness and collaboration have been key to creating lasting educational opportunities for families across the district. This event was not only a celebration of accomplishments—it was also a reaffirmation of the shared commitment between UHD and Aldine ISD to continue working together and expanding opportunities for the communities they serve.Learn more about the UHD Bilingual E-Library and its community programs at bilingualelibrary.org.
